Magnus's Megaphonic Manifest
5th-level evocation
When you cast Magnus's Megaphonic Manifest, you can send a short message of twenty-five words or less to any number of creatures you can currently see, regardless of the distance. You must shout the message out loud. Each creature that can see and hear you can understand your message, regardless of the language you speak. Each target can then reply with a message of twenty-five words or less. You receive these replies telepathically, one by one, based on how important each individual is to you personally. The spell doesn't allow creatures to reply if they are beyond your sight at the time of their reply.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the duration extends by 1 round for each slot level above 5th, allowing for additional replies or follow-up messages within the extended duration.
Lore:
Magnus's Megaphonic Manifest was the brainchild of Magnus Loudmouth, a legendary bard renowned not just for his thunderous voice, but also for his grandiose flair for communication. Magnus sought a way to address a large audience spread across vast distances, a need that arose from his experiences in sprawling battles and large-scale performances.
Dissatisfied with the limitations of existing communication spells, Magnus developed this powerful spell to broadcast his voice to anyone within his line of sight, no matter the distance. This was particularly groundbreaking for situations where immediate and widespread communication was necessary, such as alerting distant troops on a battlefield or addressing a scattered crowd in a large city.
The personal nature of the spell's reply mechanism was a testament to Magnus's belief in the significance of individual connections amidst the vastness of the crowd. It reflected his understanding that while a message might be broadcast widely, its impact is often deeply personal.
Magnus's Megaphonic Manifest gained fame among spellcasters who found themselves needing to communicate over large distances, especially in situations where time was of the essence. The spell remains a hallmark of Magnus's legacy, showcasing his innovative spirit and his deep appreciation for the art of communication.
