Walter's Whimsical Wall Warp

Walter's Whimsical Wall Warp

2nd-level transmutation

  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: Touch
  • Components: V, S, M (a paintbrush and a swatch of the desired color)
  • Duration: Instantaneous
  • Classes: Wizard, Bard, Sorcerer

You touch a wall whose surface you have previously painted. Upon casting, the wall’s color changes to a different, single, solid color of your choice, as long as you have a swatch of that color at hand. The spell affects a surface area of up to 100 square feet. The change is permanent and can only be undone by physical repainting or another casting of this spell.

The spell cannot alter the texture or material of the wall, only the color. It also doesn’t affect any other objects on or near the wall, such as frames, curtains, or mounted devices.

At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 3rd level or higher, the area affected increases by 100 square feet for each slot level above 2nd.

Lore:

Walter's Whimsical Wall Warp was created by a quirky but talented wizard named Walter Greenbrush. Walter had a passion for interior design and often found himself frustrated by the time-consuming process of repainting walls whenever he wanted to change the ambiance of his home or workshop.

After numerous trials and errors, Walter developed this spell to facilitate his ever-changing aesthetic preferences. The requirement that he must have painted the wall before was a personal touch, reflecting his belief that magic should complement personal effort, not replace it.

The spell became quite popular among artistic communities and homeowners who enjoyed frequently changing their surroundings without the hassle of conventional painting. Over time, it also became a favorite among set designers in theaters and illusionists who enjoyed creating dynamic and changing environments as part of their performances.

Walter Greenbrush, remembered as much for his eccentric taste in wall colors as for his magical prowess, left behind a legacy of blending practical magic with artistic expression, illustrating how even the most mundane aspects of life can be touched by the whimsy of wizardry.
