Properties
-
Psionic Conduit: While attuned to this weapon, you can use it as a focus for psionic abilities. This magic weapon gives you a +3 bonus to attack and damage rolls.
-
Hive Command: As a bonus action, you can exude an aura of command in a 30-foot radius. Allies within the aura gain an advantage on saving throws against being frightened and a +2 bonus to attack rolls. This aura lasts 1 minute and has one use per long rest.
-
Swarmstrike: When you hit a creature with this weapon, you can summon a swarm of spectral Thri-Kreen claws to rend your enemy. The target takes an additional 4d8 psychic damage and must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw (DC 17) or be frightened of you for 1 minute. A frightened creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success. This ability can be used a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, recharging on a long rest.
-
Hive Mind's Whisper: You can use an action to call upon the weapon’s stored psionic memory, allowing you to telepathically communicate with any creature within 120 feet that understands a language. You can issue a command in this way, and the target must succeed on a Charisma saving throw (DC 17) or be compelled to follow the order for 1 minute, provided it is not directly harmful to itself.
-
Blood of the Ancient: When the wielder is reduced to 0 hit points while attuned to Tel’chak
Shan’tul-nak Tla’kut, they can use their reaction to drop to 1 hit point instead. In addition, for the next minute, they gain advantage on all attack rolls made with the glaive and resistance to all damage except force. Once this ability is used, it cannot be used again until 7 days have passed.
-
Chitinous Shield: As a reaction, when an attack hits you, you can generate a protective barrier of psionic energy, reducing the damage by 4d10 + your Constitution modifier. You can use this reaction once per short rest.
Tel’chak Shan’tul-nak Tla’kut's Legacy
The glaive feeds on the ambition of its wielder. For every enemy you kill while attuned to this weapon, you gain temporary hit points equal to half the enemy’s hit point maximum (maximum of 50). Additionally, if you reduce an enemy to 0 hit points with this weapon, you can choose to inspire nearby allies. Up to 5 creatures of your choice within 30 feet gain 10 temporary hit points and advantage on their next attack roll.
Sentience and Personality
The Tel’chak Shan’tul-nak Tla’kut is sentient (Intelligence 16, Wisdom 14, Charisma 18) and communicates telepathically in clicks, whistles, and fragmented words. It is highly ambitious, urging its wielder to unify or dominate any Thri-Kreen hive encountered. The weapon respects strength and cunning, growing more powerful in the hands of a leader with vision. If the wielder fails to pursue its goal of conquest, the glaive may impose disadvantage on attack rolls until they realign with its purpose.
Drawback
If the wielder ever flees from battle while attuned to Tel’chak Shan’tul-nak Tla’kut, they must
succeed on a DC 18 Intelligence saving throw or the weapon will sever the bond with the
wielder, becoming unusable for 24 hours. Tel’chak Shan’tul-nak Tla’kut respects only courage
and strength.
Flavor
The glaive is adorned with intricate carvings of Thri-Kreen motifs and a sharp, segmented blade that seems to hum with a psionic glow. When swung, it leaves trails of ghostly claws in the air, whispering the war cries of long-dead hives.
