Chaorix

Anarchos Demon: Chaorix

In the layer of Anarchos, demons known as Chaorix epitomize the essence of chaos and cowardice. These demons are specifically designed to incite and exploit the reckless and erratic nature inherent in the deepest layer of The Hells.

Specialty in Temptation

  • Agents of Chaos: Chaorix specialize in tempting mortals with the allure of unrestrained freedom and anarchic behavior. They entice those who seek to break free from societal norms and constraints, promising a life unbound by rules or ethics.
  • Exploiters of Fear and Cowardice: These demons prey on individuals who are driven by fear and cowardice, offering them ways to escape their responsibilities and consequences through chaotic and reckless actions.

Physical Appearance

  • Manifestations of Anarchy: Chaorix demons have a wild and unpredictable appearance, often shifting and changing in form. They might appear as a whirlwind of chaotic features, each aspect more unsettling and erratic than the last.
  • Disturbingly Alluring: Despite their chaotic nature, Chaorix possess a disturbing allure. Their forms, while constantly in flux, are crafted to be strangely captivating, drawing in those fascinated by the prospect of embracing chaos and disorder.

In Anarchos, the Chaorix stand as embodiments of the layer's core themes of chaos, cowardice, and reckless abandon. Their ever-changing and unpredictable forms mirror the anarchic essence of the layer, drawing in souls who are seduced by the chaos and madness they represent. Chaorix demons are the perfect agents of Anarchos, luring mortals into a world where order dissolves into mayhem and fear gives way to uncontrolled frenzy.

Innate Spellcasting. The Chaorix's spellcasting ability is Charisma (spell save DC 17). The Chaorix can innately cast the following spells, requiring no material components:

At will: Disguise Self, Minor Illusion, Thaumaturgy
3/day each: Confusion, Mirror Image, Misty Step
1/day each: Chaos Bolt (as a 5th-level spell), Plane Shift (self only)

Contract of Anarchy. The Chaorix can offer a contract that appeals to a mortal's desire for unrestrained freedom, with a hidden catch that leads to chaos and disorder.

Shapechanger. The Chaorix can use its action to polymorph into a humanoid it has seen, or back into its true form. Its statistics are the same in each form. Any equipment it is wearing or carrying isn't transformed. It reverts to its true form if it dies.

Actions

Multiattack. The Chaorix makes two attacks with its chaos blade.

Chaos Blade. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 9 (1d10 + 4) slashing damage plus 4 (1d8) random type damage (roll 1d8 to determine the type: 1 - fire, 2 - cold, 3 - acid, 4 - lightning, 5 - thunder, 6 - poison, 7 - psychic, 8 - radiant).

Confounding Strike. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) psychic damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be confused (as per the Confusion spell) for 1 minute. The target can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the effect on itself on a success.

The Chaorix is designed as an embodiment of chaos and unpredictability. Its innate spellcasting focuses on creating confusion and altering perceptions, aiding in its role as a tempter and trickster. Its ability to shapechange aids in its deceptive practices, and its combat abilities, with the chaos blade and confounding strike, reflect its chaotic nature. The Contract of Anarchy ability signifies its role in tempting mortals with the illusion of freedom and unrestrained will, hiding the ensuing anarchy and disorder.
